Thanks for visiting my website. I’m a photographer, instructor and tour guide living in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Photography is my greatest passion in life and I’m never happier than with a camera in my hands. As well as undertaking commissions, I also offer keen photographers private history & photography tours of Edinburgh, which are a wonderful blend of beautiful photography locations, photography tips and fascinating history from around the city of Edinburgh.

I’m also hugely passionate about passing on my photography knowledge and I love introducing beginners to the wonders of photography. If you’re thinking of taking up photography, or know someone who’d like to, our beginner photography classes in Edinburgh are the ideal way to get off auto mode and finally master the mysteries of manual mode. Gift vouchers are available too and make great presents for family and friends.

Many of the photographs you see on my website are for sale. If you’d like to purchase one please get in touch. In 2017 and 2018, I was lucky enough to be a commended finalist in the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year Competition.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME

I was born in Edinburgh in 1973 and have enjoyed living in and around the city nearly all my life. I went to Aberdeen University to study law, graduated in 1995 and, after getting a Diploma in Legal Practice at Edinburgh University, qualified as a solicitor in 1999.

After qualifying I went to the Land Register of Scotland, where I specialised in complex land registration and training new officers in property law and land-registration practices. I decided (quite radically, but after a lot of thought) to change course in 2007 to start a new business and follow my creative interests.

After setting up various different businesses over the years, I've settled on my real passions which I feel very fortunate to be able to pursue. I love meeting new people and exploring creative ideas, so please do get in touch if you think there's something we could work on together.

As a freelance photographer, I specialise in photographing all around Scotland and the city of London. When I'm not working for clients, I'm shooting personal projects nearly every day - it’s an obsession! I try to keep my photography true to the scene in front of me at the time and I don't use photoshop or filters, except the occasional vignette and a little bit of selective colour now and again in Lightroom. I don't create composite photos or add anything to my photos that wasn't there at the time. Sometimes I do go a bit 'arty' when it feels right, but that will always be obvious to the viewer.

In addition to my photography, I also offer private photography tuition and walking & photography tours of Edinburgh for small, private parties. I’ve lived in Edinburgh for over 46 years and love showing people photogenic locations around the city.

I'm a mad keen fisherman and love exploring hidden lochs in remote mountains and glens all around the Scottish Highlands. I collect vintage cameras (some of which I use) along with vintage photographs of Scotland, but particularly Edinburgh. I'm a huge dog lover and have a lovely wee Bedlington Terrier called Gracie.
